St James's Leith, RectorOur Rector is Steve Butler. He returned to St James in October 2013 having previously been our Rector from 1999 to 2008.

Brought up and schooled in Glasgow, Steve went to Edinburgh University to study Psychology. He then became a graduate trainee Chartered Surveyor before training for ordination at Trinity College, Bristol in the mid-1980s. After completing his training, Steve embarked on a 10-year career in music – as a performer, recording producer and publisher. He was ordained in Edinburgh in 1997 and served his curacy in the Diocese, before becoming Rector of St James in 1999. He is married to Anne, and they have three grown-up children and two grandchildren.
