Welcome!
This is the website of the congregation of St James the Less, Leith, Edinburgh. We are a local parish of the Scottish Episcopal Church, which is a Province of the world-wide Anglican Communion
Although St James has existed in Leith for over 300 years, we are constantly looking for ways to make our life together as meaningful and relevant as possible for today. This is reflected in our worship which follows closely the liturgy of the Scottish Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion, and yet tries to be informal, inclusive and welcoming. We take an active role in our community and are members of Leith Churches Together.

St James is a ‘small eucharistic community’ - that is, on a Sunday morning we gather around the communion table to share bread and wine in response to Christ’s plea to his followers - ‘do this to remember me’. In this ritual moment, we find a rhythm for life which shapes our world-view, feeds our souls and inspires us to live out our commitment to Christ’s way of love, forgiveness and justice, in the context of our everyday lives. You are welcome to join us on the way.
