As well as our regular Stations of the Cross on the morning of Good Friday, this year we have an evening event, learning and singing magnificent Gospel songs of redemption and celebration chosen for Easter. Brian’s famous Gospel Singing sessions at Solas Festival are known to many, and one of two of the songs will hopefully find there way into our Easter Morning service (Brian is staying on for the weekend). Feel free to bring your own refreshments… you may be needing them!
Brian McGlynn has played extensively around the UK and Ireland and has released four studio albums and had songs on several compilations, including one also featuring Canadian legend, Bruce Cockburn. He has toured with the BBC Scotland Comedy Unit, been a regular performer at many festivals including Greenbelt, Solas and the Edinburgh Fringe, and been featured on BBC TV, Radio Clyde, BBC Radio Scotland, Celtic Music Radio, GRF Radio, and others.
Over the years, Brian has worked with musicians from Deacon Blue, Wet Wet Wet and Capercaillie among others. Described by Tom Morton, broadcaster and music journalist, as sounding like ‘Elvis via Van Morrison’, the key influences on McGlynn’s musical style have been blues, gospel, folk, rock & roll, soul and classic pop.
