The brilliant, melodic New Focus are playing the third concert in the Jazz at St James season.

Originally formed in 2011, following a festival commission  to present a fiftieth anniversary tribute to the great saxophonist Stan Getz’s 1961 collaboration with string arranger Eddie Sauter, Focus, the quartet, led by Konrad Wisznewski on tenor sax and pianist Euan Stevenson (composer of the majority of the music on their current, highly-praised album, On Song), is first and foremost about tunefulness.

Add to this the outstanding musicianship of Stevenson and SNJO mainstay Wiszniewski, and the stellar support of Mario Caribe on bass and Alyn Cosker on drums, and you have a not-to-be-missed evening in Leith.
