Lent Groups
This Lent we will be exploring the theme of Community.
David Cameron’s ‘Big Society’ big idea has raised the question of whether voluntary groups, such as churches, have the capacity to make a difference - particularly at a time when funding is being cut and money is tight.
But what is community? How do we help to foster it, in the church, and beyond? How do we get beyond the romantic ideal, to contributing to the reality of community ourselves? And how much intimacy, belonging, openness, trust, and acceptance do we really want? Is there a cost to community, and are we willing to face it?
The aim for our Lent groups is to discuss these issues informally over a shared meal. Each week, there will be a different slant to discuss, guided by the light touch of a facilitator.
